‘Captain America’ did it again. Christian Pulisic stole the spotlight in the Team USA’s 2-0 victory over Bolivia in its Copa America 2024 debut with a brilliant performance.

Pulisic scored a stunning goal three minutes into the match that opened the Group C, which was the fastest goal of this edition.

The AC Milan attacker’s goal was also his 30th for the U.S. after 70 appearances for his country.

Pulisic joined a privileged list of six U.S. players with 30 goals or more for their national team: Clint Dempsey (57), Landon Donovan (57), Jozy Altidore (42), Eric Wynalda (34) and Brian McBride (30).

U.S. head coach Gregg Berhalter praised the ‘USMNT’ captain’s “exceptional performance” and leadership.

“Christian is a selfless leader, he goes out, he competes, he works hard and that helps the team,” Berhalter said at the post-match press conference at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“To me, he had an outstanding performance,” which was reflected in his “well-deserved” “man of the match” designation, he added.
